Sculpture of the Virgin of Granada in carved and polychrome wood, attributed to Mora or his workshop, Granada School, 17th century Carved and polychromed wood. Dimensions: 61 x 51 x 38 cm. This Virgin of Sorrows, executed with extraordinary delicacy in its features and with vividly contrasting polychromy, displays the expressive intensity characteristic of the Granada Baroque. The half-open mouth, the raised eyes, and the hands clasped in a supplicating gesture convey a profound religious drama. The golden embossing and the intense blue of the mantle accentuate the ornamental richness and spirituality of the image.
