Description
Globular stoneware flask with a wide, low belly and a short, open-rimmed neck
China. Yuan Dynasty. 1279-1368. Covered with a thick, uniform, glossy, monochrome black glaze with a slight dripping effect and subtle nuances. The flat, unglazed base reveals a very compact, grayish-beige paste with traces of firing and period wear. The black glaze continues on the interior. The lack of decoration, the robust modeling, and the understated finish are characteristic of mirror-black glazed stoneware produced in workshops in northern China during the Yuan Dynasty. This type of vessel was used for storing liquids or products intended for everyday or ritual use. Lot in international warehouse (within the EU). Intra-EU shipment: no import duties apply within the EU. Export permit from the country of origin may be required.
