Description
Rare 17th Century Shipwreck Treasure from Viernamite with over 3,500 bronze coins
Fantastic original 18th-century pot, filled with approximately 3,500 Vietnamese cash coins. A cash coin pot is a round vessel with a filled hole in the middle. Batches of 100 cash coins were placed inside. "Vietnam Cash" coins are much harder to come by than "Chinese Cash" coins. It is rare to see perfect strings of coins wound around and around. There were three pots, but the auction house took one apart to see how many coins it held, and the other was sold. This is truly a museum-quality piece. Of course, an interior designer would love it, as they are as rare and perhaps even unique as treasure pots. Provenance: Important European private collection.
