Description
George III sideboard in mahogany and other woods with satin veneer, English School, 18th century Mahogany and other woods. Dimensions: 118 x 171 x 72 cm. 18th-century English sideboard, designed in the style of the reign of George III, with a rectangular structure and a front arrangement of two upper drawers above two doors. The surface is covered with satinwood bands and purflings that enrich the composition, framing the central panels with geometric elegance. The doors feature moulded decoration with classical sobriety, while the bronze handles and fittings provide a metallic counterpoint with a refined finish. The piece rests on solid zoomorphic legs that evoke animal forms, an ornamental device laden with symbolism widespread in Georgian aesthetics. The quality of the workmanship is evident in the harmonious proportions of its volumes, the precision of the details, and the polished finish that enhances the warm tones of the mahogany contrasted with the satinwood purfling. Its style reflects 18th-century British taste, combining functionality and superb ornamentation within the prevailing neoclassical spirit. It retains minor defects consistent with its age, but overall it remains in good condition and constitutes a significant piece of English furniture from the George III period.
