Description
Bottle from the La Granja Factory, Spanish glass, 19th century.
Hand-blown and enameled glass. Dimensions: 18 x 7 x 6 cm. This bottle has a prismatic profile with gently sloping shoulders and a short cylindrical neck. It is made of slightly frosted, transparent glass with small irregularities and bubbles characteristic of the artisanal process. The surface is adorned with a delicate polychrome enameled floral decoration, arranged vertically, where stylized stems, lanceolate leaves, and open flowers in shades of red, blue, green, white, and yellow are arranged in an ascending rhythm. On the sides, undulating motifs in white enamel frame the central composition, while a decorative line runs along the top, reinforcing the overall visual structure. The brushwork is loose yet precise, with direct application of the enamel creating subtle reliefs perceptible to the touch. The transparency of the glass allows one to appreciate the irregular thickness of the walls and the handmade nature of the piece, distinctive features of the traditional production of the Royal Glass Factory of La Granja. The set stands out for its chromatic freshness, ornamental harmony and balance between form and decoration, qualities representative of 19th century Spanish artistic glass and the decorative tradition linked to this historic manufacture.
