Chinese funerary ornament in jade, Eastern Zhou Period
Rectangular funerary ornament decorated with a stylized Taotie-type mask, with a beautiful antique patina ranging from olive green to dark brown, showing signs of weathering and natural veining visible in the light. The plaque is perforated in the centre by an old, lateral, biconical hole, and the entire decoration is made by fine, regular incisions with a lithic abrasive, a technique characteristic of archaic jades. Nephrite jade with incised decoration. China. Eastern Zhou period. 770-475 BC. 6 x 4.5 cm. Lot in international warehouse (within the EU). Intra-EU shipment: no import duties apply within the EU.
