Painter, draughtswoman, engraver and ceramist Yvonne Jean-Haffen developed a rich and varied artistic career from the 1920s onwards. Trained in Paris, she took part in the creation of monumental decors for ocean liners and public buildings, while developing her ceramics skills at the Quimper and Sèvres factories.
In 1937, she and her husband bought La Grande-Vigne, a house on the port of Dinan. This house, which became her main place of residence in Brittany, quickly became a veritable workshop of creation and inspiration. It was in this privileged setting that she pursued her personal work and collaborated closely with Mathurin Méheut.
Throughout her career, Yvonne Jean-Haffen asserted a singular artistic sensibility, nourished by her attachment to Brittany, her taste for the decorative arts and her mastery of multiple techniques of expression.
In her home in Dinan, you can now visit a museum dedicated to her art.
