Trained in the applied arts after initial engineering studies, Isabelle Delecourt moved to Quimper at the end of the Second World War. In 1946-1947, she joined HB-Henriot, where she began a decisive collaboration that would last several decades.
There, she developed an immediately recognisable decorative universe, centred on stylised human figures and genre scenes, in particular Breton dancers and groups in traditional costume. Her work, often polychrome and rhythmic, is fully in keeping with the post-war revival of Quimper earthenware, while at the same time asserting a gentle, narrative sensibility.
A prolific artist, she is the author of numerous earthenware and stoneware editions for HB, now widely available on the art market. Her compositions, sought after by collectors, reflect a personal and modern interpretation of traditional Breton iconography.
