19TH CENTURY DUTCH SCHOOL - Gambling scene in an inn Oil on copper. Dimensions: 29 x 19 cm. Dimensions including frame: 34 x 37 cm. This work depicts a lively gambling scene set inside an inn, a theme closely linked to the tradition of Dutch genre painting that developed during the Dutch Golden Age. Several figures are gathered around a table, taking part in a card game or other game of chance, whilst others watch the proceedings intently, creating a composition with a distinctly narrative and genre-depicting character.
