Christ on the Cross. Signed Serna Ramos. Spanish School. 20th century Mixed media on paper (gouache). Dimensions: 48 x 33 cm (54 x 37 cm including frame). A schematic figure of Christ on the cross, outlined with expressive black strokes against a vibrant chromatic field of purple, blue and red tones that suggest an intense emotional atmosphere. The crucifixion is interpreted from an abstract perspective, with a strong gestural and symbolic charge. This work, signed by José Antonio Serna Ramos (1994), belongs to a contemporary expressionist movement in which the figure dissolves into the emotion of colour.
