ANTONIO AMOROSI (Comunanza, 1660 – Rome, 1738) Attributed – Portrait of a young man wearing a hat Oil on paper mounted on canvas. Dimensions: 32 x 23 cm. Antonio Amorosi was one of the most distinctive painters of the Roman school of the late 17th and early 18th centuries, renowned for his genre scenes featuring young peasants, beggars, musicians and other ordinary people, all depicted with great naturalism and psychological sensitivity. This work depicts a young man wearing a hat in a half-length portrait of marked immediacy and an intimate character.
