ATTRIBUTED TO EGBERT VAN HEEMSKERCK (Haarlem, 1634 – London, 1704) - Tavern scene Oil on relined canvas. Dimensions: 46.5 x 77.5 cm. Dimensions with frame: 94.5 x 63.5 cm. This is an interesting tavern scene attributed to Egbert van Heemskerck, a Dutch painter known for his depictions of everyday interiors, festive gatherings, and scenes featuring characters of humble origins. The composition captures the lively atmosphere typical of 17th-century Dutch taverns, settings that were among the most popular subjects in genre painting during the Dutch Golden Age. The figures are engaged in everyday activities, conversations and leisure pursuits, creating a scene imbued with naturalism and psychological insight.
