DUTCH SCHOOL, ATTRIBUTED TO ADRIAEN VAN OSTADE (Haarlem, 1610 – Haarlem, 1685) - The Drinker and the Smoker Oil on canvas. Dimensions: 24 x 30 cm. Dimensions with frame: 41 x 47.5 cm. This work depicts a tavern scene featuring a drinker and a smoker gathered inside a modest inn, a theme of fundamental importance in 17th-century Dutch genre painting. The figures are portrayed with great naturalness in a moment of everyday leisure, sharing drink and tobacco in an intimate and down-to-earth atmosphere created through warm lighting and a careful arrangement of the interior elements.
