Description
Spanish wooden mirror. Spanish School. 20th century
Carved and gilded wood. This elegant Spanish mirror from the early 20th century features lavish ornamental work on gilded wood, creating a floral motif of acanthus leaves, scrolls and flowers, topped by a central heraldic motif. The vertically sculpted mirror is set within a richly crafted frame, notable for its symmetry and dynamism, in keeping with the historicist taste of the period. The quality of the gilding, with its warm, uniform reflections, demonstrates excellent technical mastery in the application of gold leaf. This piece forms part of the Spanish decorative tradition which, at the beginning of the 20th century, revived the Baroque and Rococo styles. Its presence adds a touch of visual distinction to the space, combining functionality with decorative exuberance. 111 x 70 x 6 cm.
