Description
Pair of wrought-iron grilles, Spanish School, 19th century
Wrought iron. Measures 86 x 13 x 6 cm each. A pair of grilles made from twisted bars arranged horizontally and joined by vertical elements that give the whole structure a remarkable compositional balance. The decoration centres on central geometric motifs with a rhomboidal profile and small volutes that lend visual rhythm to the design. The twisting of the bars creates interplay of light and shadow that enriches the metal surface, whilst the restrained ornamentation reflects the tradition of utilitarian and architectural wrought iron of the 19th century. The craftsmanship demonstrates technical mastery in ironwork, combining functionality and decorative flair within a folk and artisanal aesthetic. These pieces constitute an interesting testament to traditional blacksmithing applied to the domestic and stately architecture of their time. Dimensions: 86 x 13 cm.
