Description
Tin jug with spout, Germanic School. 17th century
Moulded and engraved pewter. Jug with a spout, featuring a slightly curved cylindrical body, a truncated cone-shaped base and a tall neck, topped with a spout-shaped pouring spout with embossed plant decoration. The body is decorated with engraved floral and geometric motifs and features two anthropomorphic heads in high relief as decorative elements on the sides. The piece, crafted from high-quality pewter, reveals meticulous craftsmanship in the engraving and modelling, highlighting the delicacy of the ornamental details. Its typology corresponds to the ceremonial or utilitarian jugs typical of 17th-century Central European homes, used both for serving drinks and for domestic display. The balanced silhouette, the richness of its ornamentation and its good state of preservation make this piece an outstanding example of Germanic metalwork from the Baroque period. Dimensions: 21 × 13 × 21 cm
