Porthole clock with mother-of-pearl marquetry. French School. 19th century Ebonised wood with mother-of-pearl marquetry and an enamelled dial. Dimensions: 62 x 48 x 20 cm. A porthole-style wall clock with a richly carved case decorated with mother-of-pearl marquetry in curvilinear motifs. The white dial with Roman numerals is integrated into the design by a gilded metal frame. The sinuous shape and ornamentation reflect the aesthetics of the French Second Empire. This piece dates from the second half of the 19th century.
