LOUIS XV-STYLE FIREPLACE. FRANCE, 20TH CENTURY Monumental fireplace in Rouge Royal marble. Carved Rouge Royal marble. Dimensions: width 168 cm; mantel depth 33.5 cm; height 116 cm; interior clearance 108 cm. A magnificent Louis XV-style fireplace crafted from Rouge Royal marble, one of the most prized varieties of French decorative marble due to the richness of its reddish tones and the intensity of its natural veining. The structure features an elegant mantelpiece with a moulded profile resting on a richly carved body, dominated at the centre by a floral cartouche sculpted in relief. The side jambs, with their pronounced curvilinear lines, terminate in characteristic C-shaped scrolls accompanied by plant motifs and volutes that fully reflect the Rococo ornamental style developed during the reign of Louis XV. The quality of the marble and the richness of the carving lend the piece a striking decorative presence, making it an excellent example of the French tradition of prestigious architectural elements intended for palaces and aristocratic residences.
