Description
Large Chinese blue-and-white porcelain vase with lid. Chinese School. 19th century.
Cobalt-blue glazed porcelain on a white ground. Large Chinese vase with a lid crowned by a stylised animal figure, probably a Fo dog. The surface is decorated with floral and geometric motifs and heraldic scenes, including imperial dragons surrounded by auspicious symbols, all rendered with great technical precision. The rich composition is arranged in horizontal bands, alternating naturalistic designs with those of a symbolic nature. The globular body rises from a narrow base to a pronounced neck that ends in a sculptural lid. The use of cobalt blue beneath the lid indicates a clear connection with the great ceramic centres of Jingdezhen during the Qing period, evoking a taste for opulence and spiritual protection. Dimensions: 50 × 26 × 26 cm.
