38 China: An enamelled copper set comprising two cones and two lidded vases. Decorated with scenes of palaces painted in ‘Famille rose’ enamels against a translucent blue enamel background. This translucent blue background is applied over a grid pattern, likely created using silver leaf flakes. Fine original copper mounts. Gilded bronze finials depicting Fô dogs. Qing Dynasty, 19th century. Condition: various visible areas of missing enamel. The tops of both lids are slightly dented. Height of horn: 30 cm. Height of vase: 34.5 cm. (LL)
