Description
194 Certificate of Knighthood of the Empire Certificate of Knight of the Empire awarded to Claude-Charles Meuziau, major in the 11th Regiment of Mounted Chasseurs, member of the Legion of Honour (Buxy 1771–1834). The certificate is dated 9 December 1809. It bears a large red wax seal featuring, on the obverse, a portrait of Napoleon I and, on the reverse, the arms of the Empire. The coat of arms granted to Chevalier Meuziau appears, in polychrome, in the upper left-hand section of the certificate. There are two signatures: that of the Emperor, ‘Napole’ (with a smudge), and that of Cambacérès, Archchancellor of the Empire.
