DELAMARCHE GLOBE
The cartouche reads: ‘Globe | adopted | by the University Council | Delamarche | 25 Rue
Serpente | Paris, 1860’.
A wooden globe covered in polychrome paper, mounted on a turned wooden base painted black.
Featuring meridian circles, an equatorial table and armillae.
The continents are delicately outlined with a green border. The cartography is beautifully detailed.
From the Delamarche firm, founded by Charles François Delamarche (1740–1817). Grosselin, manager
of the Delamarche workshops, son of Charles-François, who, upon the death of Félix Delamarche (son of
Charles-François) in 1847, became the owner of the firm under the name ‘Maison Delamarche’.
Good condition, on its original base, with minor paper losses and scuffing in places. Without the
