Bronze cast with brown patina on a sea-green marble plinth

Signed Dalou and bearing the foundry mark of Fumiere et Cie
Signs of wear, scuffs on the marble

In 1895, the architect Formigé, who had collaborated with Dalou on several occasions, asked him to sculpt the monument that the workers of a painting firm wished to erect in memory of their former boss, funded by public subscription. In 1896, the monument was unveiled on 1 November in the presence of the sculptor.
