Aimé-Jules DALOU (1838–1902) The Desperate Woman Bronze cast with brown patina H: 20 cm Signed ‘Dalou’, inscribed ‘Cire perdue’ and ‘Susse Fres Edts’, and bearing the foundry’s round stamp Wear to the patina ‘The Desperate Woman’ depicts a young nude woman—one of the artist’s favourite subjects—seated on a rock, in a state of intense dramatic tension.
