BLONDEL (François). Lectures on Architecture… Part One [Parts Two and Three]. Paris, 1675 and 1683. Three (of five) parts in two folio volumes. First edition. Part One: In Paris, printed by L. Rouland, and sold by P. Auboin & F. Clouzier, 1675. [8] folios (including the frontispiece), 152 pp., [2] folios (table of contents), fig., contemporary glazed havana calf, spine with 6 raised bands, gilt title, decorated panels (caps worn down, raised bands and grooves rubbed, 2 corners blunt; upper endpaper missing; worm damage in the margins from p. 39 to the end; browning, slight soiling, pen marks on p. 72, stain on plate XIV). Illustrated with a frontispiece, 24 full-page plates and 6 vignettes, all engraved on copper by De La Boissière. Provenance: François Botet of Phalsbourg (handwritten note on the lower endpaper and on plate XI). Parts Two and Three: Paris, published by the author & [N. Langlois, obscured by a piece of paper], 1683. [6] folios, 312 pp., French text, with illustrations, contemporary brown calf, fawn-coloured imitation spine, corners and edges restored (a tear to one edge; frontispiece and title page slightly faded, sporadic browning, water-stains in the side margins; the double plate is missing). A copper-engraved frontispiece, and over 110 figures in the text, engraved on wood or copper. Provenance: JB Leroux (old signature in the margin of the frontispiece).
