BLONDEAU DE CHARNAGE (Claude-François). Essay on the Point of Honour, dedicated to His Most Serene Highness, the Duke of Penthièvre. Rennes: published by Julien Vatar, 1747. Small 8vo, [3] leaves, 36 pp., contemporary marbled havana sheepskin, plain decorated spine, red morocco title label, blind-stamped scrolls on the edges, red edges (binding lacquer missing at the tail of the spine, small cut on one endpaper). A rare, unique edition of this treatise on the issue of the abuse of duelling. Printing licence dated 29 February 1748 and title page dated 1747. An introductory folio may be missing between the epistle and the preface. An old annotation on the title page, which likely indicates where this book was cited: ‘La Colombière in his Treatise on Duels, Sauval in his Antiquities of Paris’.
