LE VIEIL (Pierre). The Art of Glass Painting and Glasswork. [No place, no publisher, 1781?]. In-4, 436 pp., 7 copper-engraved plates, 19th-century black half-shagreen binding, spine with 4 raised bands, author’s name and title gilded (faded gilding, worn corners, foxing around the margins of the first two leaves, rare foxing). This volume forms part of a series, probably a quarto-sized encyclopaedia, of which it is volume 13. Date based on a handwritten note on the title page. The work was originally published in 1774 as part of the *Description des Arts et Métiers* series, in folio format, illustrated with 13 plates: here, there are only 7, but no apparent omissions. 19th-century engraved ex-libris bearing a coat of arms. Provenance: Jean Tremblot de La Croix (1893–1964), curator at the Bibliothèque de l’Institut de France, historian and heraldist; by descent.
