Oblong folio, [3] folios; 58 pp., [1] fol., ill., pl., publisher’s brown percaline, blank spine, ornamental gilt framing on the covers, with angular fleurons bearing the Empress’s cipher, and on the upper cover the title in a gilt medallion featuring the imperial eagle, gilt edges (one corner blunt, slight rubbing to the headbands and mouthpieces; a tear without loss to two serpents, a few rare foxing spots). A fine commemorative volume documenting the Empress Eugénie’s visits to the provinces. The illustrations comprise 8 plates, including portraits of the Empress and the Prince on the frontispiece, and vignettes within the text; the plates and some of the illustrations in the text are presented as captioned scrolls. The text, plates and captioned scrolls are bordered by a line, with the Empress’s cipher in the corners, printed in various colours.
