In-12, XIX-298 pp. (last page incorrectly numbered 190), [1] blank folio, brown half-shagreen binding circa 1900, spine with 5 raised bands, author’s name, title and fleurons in gold (knock to the edge of the upper cover, spine faded and slightly rubbed, some foxing, signature on the title page). Posthumous first edition (Carteret II, 366). Included: - AUBRY (Octave). Napoleon and his time. St Helena. I. Napoleon’s captivity. - II. The Emperor’s death. P., Flammarion, 1935. 2 volumes in-8, Bradel-style half-parchment, fawn-coloured title labels, gilt headband, covers and spine preserved (some foxing). First edition: press copy. Autograph copy signed by the author and sent to Jacques-Émile Blanche; accompanied by an autograph postcard signed by the author, dated Longwood, 5 May 1933, showing the Emperor’s grave. Provenance: Jacques-Émile Blanche (1861–1942), painter and writer, by descent. Comprising 3 volumes.
