In-12, contemporary dark green glazed calfskin, spine with 5 raised bands, author’s name and title in gold, decorated panels, untrimmed (spine faded, slight rubbing at the top of the spine, foxing). First edition and first printing. Illustrated with 12 wood-engraved vignettes in the text, after Henriot. Provenance: Jacques-Émile Blanche (1861–1942), painter and writer, by descent, with an autograph dedication signed by L. Halévy ‘to my young friend Jacques Blanche’. (Carteret I, 371–372).
