Description
ROIG, LOUŸS (Pierre). *La femme et le pantin*. Illustrations by P. Roïg. Decorations by Riom. Paris: L'Edition d'Art H. Piazza, 1903. In-8, paperback, publisher’s slipcase (unbound, slipcase worn). A work illustrated with 50 colour plates within the text, based on drawings by the Catalan painter Pau Roig Cisa (1879–1955). Copy printed on Japanese paper, uncollated. Enriched with two signed autograph letters: one from the painter, written in Seville on 5 August 1903 (2½ pages, in-8°), the other by Pierre Louÿs (1½ pages, in-12), in which he is highly critical of the recipient, the publisher, for allegedly failing to consult him on the choice of illustrations. A copy presented by the publisher Charles Masson to his mother, with a signed ex-dono date of July 1903.
