(NORWAY–WHALES) Sigismond HIMELY (1801–1872) – ‘Landing and the western coasts of Spitsbergen’ – 19th century. A set of four aquatint engravings on vellum paper by Sigismond Himely, circa 1840, based on drawings by E. Robert. Published by Arthus Bertrand. Printed by Bougeard. These prints refer both to a historical maritime concept of navigation in the Arctic and to a famous 19th-century lithographic work of art (355 x 550 mm) – Condition A-. Fine foxing.
