Description
(IDF-OISE-75-60) Louis DENIS (1725–1794) – “The Road from Paris to Compiègne...” - 18th century. Engraving enhanced with watercolour on laid paper by Louis Denis in 1776, published in his famous collection of maps entitled *Le Conducteur français*. Engraved by Chalmandrier. The map begins at the Saint-Denis tollgate, passing through Le Bourget before heading north-east, and ends at the entrance to Compiègne, facing the majestic royal palace and its vast forest teeming with game. (175 x 390 mm) – Condition A-. Map with a cut edge. Folding creases from the printing process.
