(ILE DE FRANCE-GRAND EST-75-51) Louis DENIS (1725–1794) – “The Road from Paris to Dormans...” - 18th century. Engraving enhanced with watercolour on laid paper by Louis Denis in 1776, published in his famous collection of maps entitled *Le Conducteur français*. Engraved by Chalmandrier. The map begins at the Pantin tollgate, passes through Château-Thierry in the Aisne region – the birthplace of Jean de La Fontaine – before ending its course at Dormans, a strategically important fortified market town with a river port on the Marne. (165 x 500 mm) – Condition A–. Map with a cut edge. Folding creases from the printing process.
