Description
(ILE DE FRANCE-75-77) Louis DENIS (1725–1794) – “The Road from Paris to Provins...” - 18th century. Engraving enhanced with watercolour on laid paper by Louis Denis in 1776, published in his famous cartographic collection entitled *Le Conducteur français*. Engraved by Chalmandrier. The map begins at the Vincennes or Charenton tollgate. The stagecoach passes through Grosbois (known for its château) and reaches the coaching post at Brie-Comte-Robert, ending its journey near the town of Provins, divided between its fortified upper town (le Châtel) and its lower town (le Val). (135 x 520 mm) – Condition A–. Map with a cut edge. Press creases. A few foxing spots.
