(LYON-69) François DE POILLY II (1666–1741) – ‘View of part of the city of Lyon, drawn in the house of the Canons Regular of Saint Anthony’ – 19th century. A view of Lyon engraved in four plates on vellum paper by François de Poilly II. It offers a surgically precise perspective of Lyon during the Age of Enlightenment. The river, river traffic, the Pont du Change, the medieval churches and the convents perched on Fourvière Hill can be clearly distinguished, as they appeared before the major transformations of the 19th century. Printed by Fugères. Dry stamp of the Société des Amis des Arts de Lyon. (Sheet: 900 x 560 mm // when mounted: 900 x 2070 mm) – Grade A-. Good overall condition. A few foxing spots and some dust.
