Engraving enhanced with watercolour on laid paper by Louis Denis in 1777, published in his famous cartographic collection entitled *Le Conducteur français*. Engraved by Chalmandrier. The map begins in Lyon and heads north through the Bresse region via Bourg-en-Bresse, already a bustling road junction, crossing Alsace from south to north via Mulhouse, Colmar and Sélestat, running alongside the vineyards and the foothills of the Vosges before passing through the fortified gates of Strasbourg.
