Description
(SOMME-IDF-80-75) Louis DENIS (1725–1794) – “The Road from Amiens to Paris...” - 18th century. Engraving enhanced with watercolour on laid paper by Louis Denis in 1776, published in his famous collection of maps entitled *Le Conducteur français*. Engraved by Chalmandrier. The map begins in Amiens from the south and crosses the plains of the Somme, passing through the coaching post at Hébécourt and then Flers, before ending with a journey through the Pays de France via Écouen, Pierrefitte, Saint-Denis (and its royal basilica) before passing through the Saint-Denis barrier to enter Paris. (140 x 590 mm) – Condition A–. Map has a cut corner. Printing creases. A few foxing spots.
