(SCREEN) JEAURAT, Étienne (1699–1789, after) – ‘The Woman in Labour’ – 1744. The woman on the right is holding a face-screen in her hand. The inscription reads: “This lovely affliction, Love troubles the fair. Each one wishes to examine it, And this desire often leads the cruelest to test it without consulting Hymen”. Engraving.
