Important Boulle clock in brown tortoiseshell and gilded bronze, signed Thuret Paris The piece consists of a monumental, architecturally designed clock culminating in a dome surmounted by an allegory of time holding a scythe, the whole adorned with abundant gilded bronze ornamentation, including winged female figures, foliage scrolls, volutes and rocaille motifs. The dial features white enamelled cartouches with blue Roman numerals, arranged around a finely worked bronze centre depicting flying putti. The clock rests on a richly decorated base in brown tortoiseshell and blackened wood, adorned with gilded bronze and supported by four leaf-motif feet. Based on a design by THURET in Paris. Made in the Regency style, second half of the 19th century. H.: 125 cm.
