MARCEL ANDRÉ BOURAINE (1886–1948) ‘The Spanish Dancer’ – a model created around [1925–1930] A major chryselephantine sculpture. Gilded bronze cast; the bust, arms, hands, legs and feet are in finely carved ivory. Early edition from the years 1925–1930. The stepped base is in Portor marble with gilded bronze applied motifs of stylised bull’s heads. Signed BOURAINE on the marble plinth; bears the publisher’s mark ETLING Paris at the base of the plinth at the rear. Height of sculpture alone: 37.5 cm Total height: 55 cm Minor wear, discolouration and oxidation on the gilded bronze; cracks on the ivory legs. Important: This lot is accompanied by its CIC certificate of circulation, valid only within the European Union – any application for the re-export of this lot outside the EU is the sole responsibility of the successful bidder.
