Description
HEAD OF IMOTHEP or of Ptah, carved from diorite. The head is shaved, the eyes are lined with a stroke extending towards the temples, and the eyebrows are rendered in slight relief. The ears stand out clearly in relief on either side. Resting on a stele engraved with fragmentary hieroglyphs. Ancient Egypt, New Kingdom, circa 1500 to 1000 BC. Height: 7.3 cm – Width: 6.4 cm - Depth: 8.3 cm Set on a green porphyry plinth, sculpted to shape with a moulded base. Total height: 14.5 cm. (Visible damage and losses) Provenance: – French private collection.
