Description
RARE FIGURE OF ISIS BREASTFEEDING
Carved from a single block of wood with traces of gilding, the goddess is seated on an upright throne with a footstool. She has her right hand raised to her left breast. She is dressed in a long, form-fitting gown and wears a three-part wig richly adorned with inlays of dark cobalt-blue and light copper-blue coloured glass, punctuated with inlays of red coloured glass.
Ancient Egypt. Ptolemaic period, 332 to 30 BC
