Description
FUNERAL CHEST
Made of wood, coated with stucco and entirely painted in polychrome. Rectangular in shape and slightly truncated conical, it depicts Osiris on one side, and Horus and Sobek on another, above Isis’s knots (tyet) and registered columns, on another, a Hemhem crown atop a column with registers; and on the final side, Anubis and Isis above Isis’s knots (tyet) and columns with registers. The upper cornice features coloured gadroons.
Ancient Egypt, Ptolemaic Period, 332 to 30 BC.
