Description
HEAD OF VENUS Carved from white marble, the face is oval with round cheeks and a pointed chin. The fine, arched eyebrows sit above small almond-shaped eyes and pursed lips. Her hair is wavy and parted in the middle by a divine headband, combed back and gathered into a tight bun. Roman art, 2nd century AD. Height: 11 cm – Width: 8 cm - Depth: 9.5 cm (Repaired break, cleaned, adapted plinth) Provenance: – Reportedly from the former collection of Mr Elie Bustros in the 1950s–1960s. – Private collection, Paris.
