Description
CHALICE
in vermeil (gold-plated silver). The circular, scalloped base is decorated with repoussé scenes from the Passion of Christ (the Last Supper, the Agony in Gethsemane and the Crucifixion), set within panels alternating with clasps. The knotted stem is adorned with the faces of cherubs amidst clasps and plant motifs. The slightly flared bowl features an appliqué decoration of medallions depicting allegories of the Theological Virtues.
Minerva hallmark (1st standard) and silversmith’s mark: EF, probably for the Favier firm.
