A set of 18 ceiling panels, known as ‘closoirs’, made of softwood and decorated with painted figures, animals (some mythical) and a coat of arms. Provence, Beaucaire, second half of the 14th century. Dimensions of one panel: approx. 17 x 34 cm (minor imperfections and signs of wear) This set of panels comes from a house in Beaucaire. Photographs of them were featured in an exhibition entitled ‘Medieval Painted Ceilings – The Remains of a Mid-15th-Century House in Beaucaire’, held at the Maison du Patrimoine in Beaucaire in 2016.
