(erosion and missing parts) English sculptures are rare on the art market apart from works in alabaster from the Nottingham workshops. In this case, it is the very special headdress that makes it possible to date this sculpture. In fact, the same type of headdress worn by the Duke of Lancaster can be found on an illustrated coat of arms of the Order of the Garter, kept at the British Library in London and dated 1443 (inv n° Stowe MS594) (fig).
