This statue represents the image of a statue venerated in one of the side chapels of Cuzco Cathedral, taken out in procession on Holy Tuesday. Spared by the earthquakes that traumatised the city in 1650, it was considered miraculous and took the name of Cristo de los Tremblores. Christ stands between the Virgin and Saint John, whose clothes are covered in brocateado. The flowers that adorn the base of the statue are also immortalised here.
Devotion to Christ of the Tremblors is still very popular in Peru.B319
