RARE PRECIOUS BOX SET WITH CITRINES AND COLOURED DIAMONDS
It is half-moon shaped and crafted from 18K yellow gold. The lid is studded with citrines in various shades ranging from mahogany to pale yellow, set in a variety of styles. There are also old-cut and triangular diamonds in shades of cognac and yellow, forming a monochrome effect, along with yellow sapphires. French craftsmanship. Hallmark of the Atelier Jacques Latour.
Inside is a mirror of the same shape and a powder sifter. The mirror’s setting bears the hallmark of the René Boivin workshop, which in 1980 crafted the 18K yellow gold setting for the mirror on behalf of the client.

A ‘COLD CASE’ HIDDEN IN A BOX
For several months, this box, kept in our vaults, has intrigued us. Its aesthetic language and composition immediately evoke the world of Suzanne Belperron. Following research and investigation, our intuition has been confirmed: this precious box is indeed a creation by the famous jeweller, as Olivier Baroin has skilfully established, thereby solving this seemingly simple enigma.
It is therefore with great pleasure that we present this rare piece for auction, one that follows in the tradition of creations commissioned by the leading figures of her time, such as the Duchess of Windsor.
Beyond its function as a precious object, this box reveals the full aesthetic language of Suzanne Belperron: an innate sense of colour, a freedom in the combination of shapes and materials, as if the designer’s eye had composed a miniature tableau of gemstones. A subtle harmony, a natural fluidity of form, where every combination seems to have been chosen with the utmost precision.
A work that appears simple on the surface, yet displays exceptional mastery: a masterpiece of jewellery design.
